Busy, busy, busy...

Summer for me does not mean slowing down at all. We continue to do schoolwork (although very lightly). Josh continues to work at the school doing odd maintenance jobs. For us, summer actually adds in a number of activities. The yard and garden needs much more tending. We travel a LOT to visit family and friends that we neglect during the school year! (You know who you are!) Additionally, I have planning to do--meal planning, schedule planning, curriculum planning. And currently, I am up to my ears in all of that planning. Plus, I have this really annoying sinus infection that insists on staying around.
So, what am I planning right now? Our history/literature/geography/Bible omnibus curriculum called Tapestry of Grace. It is known for being overwhelming to the first-time user, but I love it. The teacher's manual is set up perfectly for my personality. Right now, I'm creating personal Reading Assignment Charts and Weekly Overview Charts to go into a notebook for Elyse. I got the idea from some ladies on the Well-Trained Mind boards (link in sidebar) to make unit (9 weeks) notebooks that will contain the aforementioned charts, as well as the General Information page, her Student Activity Pages, and the blackline maps. Everything that she will need for the 9 weeks will already be printed off and placed in a handy-dandy notebook that will be bound using my new comb-binding machine.

I found is by chance at Staples on clearance for 30% off! I've been wanting one for a while so that I can print off books from the internet that are in the public domain and bind them. I'll let you know how the notebooks turn out! :)

And if I find a minute, I'll update everyone on our recent travels to Missouri to go a cousin's wedding, our trip to the Laura Ingalls Wilder House, the nice visit to my parent's house, and our terrifying journey to the ER with Aislinn (another seizure but all is now well). Happy June everyone!
