My "sister"

I received a letter from my "sister" this week. Zabaida is a woman that I support in Afghanistan through Women for Women International, a wonderful organization that seeks to empower women survivors of war. It's amazing to get letters from her and my previous sister and hear the stories of their lives; they've gone through so much turmoil that I will never understand. To read of their heartfelt gratitude expressed via translation of the mysterious and beautiful symbols of their heart language is an awe-inspiring and humbling experience. I've never met Zabaida, but I feel that we are connected. We are both women struggling to do the best for our family and our children. I pray for Hope and Peace to come into Zabaida's life.
